LUDLOW / PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) - A 28-year-old Brockton man tried to use a fast food drive-thru
more like a walk-up A-T-M.
The man, identified as Jason Delaney, is still at large and
the drive-thru employees at the Palmer McDonalds, and Wendy's are
terrified that the fast-food banditi with a craving for cash, may
strike again.
It all started at 11:26pm on Saturday night.
McDonald's employee Amie Guillette says, "All I knew was that
he came to the window with a knife and asked her to give him the
money."
Thanks to a clear McDonald's surveillance photo and witness
information, Palmer Police are now on the hunt for 28-year old
Jason Delaney. He's facing 2 counts of armed assault with a
dangerous weapon and 2 counts of attempted armed robbery.
Palmer Police Sgt. Christopher Burns says, "He tried to get
through the window to get some money from the clerk, but another
clerk intervened, pushed that clerk out of the way. At that point
in time, the suspect opted to leave."
Sgt. Burns says the suspect first approached the McDonald's
food window, then walked across to the Wendy's drive-thru, and back
to the McDonald's cash window to make his move.
Worker Amie Guillette says the first time the suspect
approached the window, employees thought the man was a customer who
had forgotten food.
But the second time, it became very clear what he was looking
for. Guillette told 22News, "I was just in the lobby and I heard
them screaming."
Palmer Police are now working with Ludlow Police to bring
the suspect in. Right after the attempted fast food robberies,
Delaney allegedly held up O'Connell's Convenience Store on Center
street in Ludlow.
Delaney is described as 155 pounds with brown hair and brown
eyes. Police say he may be in a Blue 2001 Chevy Impala.
If you have any information about the suspect, you're asked
to call Palmer Police at 413-283-8792.
