GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Veterans in Greenfield say they weren't sure how many people would come out to honor those who served our country, as parades and services here in Greenfield haven't always been well attended.

Veterans say that's changing. They say they were happy to see the crowd out today for the parade and ceremonies on Main Street in Greenfield.

Organizers say with little advertising they were happy to see people honoring those who gave up everything to serve our country.

Veterans say its very important to see that support every year.  Veteran Bill Maxam: "A lot of fella's we were over seas with back in the 40's aren't here today, none of them got to become fathers, grandfathers, or uncles."

Veteran Aaron Maxam: "Help support the troops, morale means a lot, every day of someone says thank you for your service it means a lot."

Veterans say the support they've seen has grown over the last couple of years. They say they're hoping its the way of the future for American Memorial Days.
