Guard hit during attempted shoplifting

Suspect punched a security guard at a Kmart

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A security guard from the Kmart at the Springfield Shopping Plaza is recovering after being punched during an attempted shoplifting.

According to Springfield Police Lt. Robert Moynahan the shoplifter punched the security guard after being confronted.

The man then ran out of the store without getting away with anything.

The suspect  faces charges of attempted shoplifting and with assaulting the security guard.
