Police departments are gearing up for what could be a rowdy Halloween.
A-A-A says people need to be a little more careful this year. Halloween falls on a Saturday and A-A-A says that motor vehicle fatalities increase when Halloween falls on a weekend.
Adults, teens and kids need to make sure they're putting safety first.
If you're hosting a party, A-A-A says you should make sure your guests have a safe way to get home or plan an overnight party.
If you're a parent, it's a good idea to bring your kids to a well lit neighborhood to go trick or treating.
Lt. Christopher Pronovost of the Amherst Police Department said their number one concern for trick or treaters is traffic safety.
"Making sure they incorporate reflective material on their costumes and being careful with the route their taking and making sure they say on sidewalks."
And when it comes to candy, parents should check it when the kids get home and if it looks suspicious, get rid of it.
