PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Harnessing the power of wind in Massachusetts. On Wednesday June 24th on the campus of Berkshire Community College at 6:00pm, officials will be holding the last public hearing on a study that identified potential wind power on state land.

Governor Deval Patrick has called for the development of 2,000 Mega-watts of wind power in the state by 2020.

"I think we should look at all kinds of alternative energy.Solar energy, wave power. Wind power is probably one of the easiest ones to do," said Sumner Stone of Chicopee.

'It's supplying our country energy independently and that's what we need. Thumbs up," said Katherine Stone of Chicopee.

Recently, the National Guard announced plans to place 17 wind turbines on the 22,000 acre Massachusetts Military Reservation in Bourne.
