The Central High School Key Club presented a check for $5,000 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Tuesday night.
The money was raised through the sale of roses in honor of Heidi Weit, a Central High School student who died 10 days before her 16th birthday in 1993.
Heidi's mother stressed the importance of Heidi's legacy.
"It makes me feel real good that she's remembered that way because she's remembered by me and her sister and our family. But every year she gets to be remembered by kids who are working for a really good cause," said Sue Stuart.
Since the Central High School Key Club began the "Roses for Heidi" fundraiser in 1995, the group has donated more than $100,000 to cystic fibrosis research.
