WAKEFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The family of a UMass student who was killed over the weekend in hit-and-run accident is speaking out and pleading for the driver of the car to come forward.
Twenty-one year-old Blake Goodman and his friend were riding their bikes on Montague Road in Amherst around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday when they were struck by a car. Goodman was pronounced dead at a local hospital. His friend suffered only minor injuries.
Now Blake’s family is left devastated and looking for closure. His father, Robert Goodman, spoke out from the family’s home in Wakefield on Sunday, pleading for the driver to have a change of heart and turn him or herself in.
“I don’t know what happened. But the thing I do know is they left someone who was injured and just took off didn’t stop to see if they can help,” Robert said.
“It’s really sad. It wasn’t his time. There was so much to do before he left,” Blake’s sister Claudia said.
The vehicle police are looking for is a black or dark colored
sedan, possibly a Ford. There should be heavy damage to the
passenger side of the front end, as well as the mirror on the same
side. Anyone with information should call Amherst Police (413)
259-3000.
