HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - On March 22nd, Holyoke will be a little more green than usual, as the city prepares to host the St. Patricks day parade.
To prepare, artisans are hard at work creating the ornate floats that wow the crowds.
The Springfield Elks are just one of many local organizations who are putting the final touches on their float.
The Elks float will be a salute to the Apache helicopter.
The Springfield Irish Elk of the Year, James Roache told 22News he's proud of the organizations work and their theme.
With Irish roots running deep in the paper city, this labor of love goes on in garages and workshops across the region in every city and town.
Like every year, 22News will march on the parade route in Holyoke and we hope to see many of you lining the streets.
