Korean War vet remembered in Agawam

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - A special and moving tribute to a local Korean War veteran who was killed in action over 50 years ago took place Monday.

At the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, the family of U.S. Army Sergeant Harry "Jake" Miller was remembered with a memorial service.

A headstone was dedicated to this Korean War vet who was listed as killed in action in Korea in 1952.

His body was never recovered.

Sergeant Miller, who was born in Monson, received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

"It means a lot to his brothers and sisters that are still here. It's been a long time that they've been waiting to hopefully have some sort of news that his reamins have been recovered, and it's been a while to convice them to put him to rest."

Harry "Jake" Miller was one of 18 children. He is survived by four sisters, one brother, and many relatives.
