Charlemont, Mass. (WWLP) - A local landmark in Franklin County is back open this weekend.
The historic Bissell Covered Bridge in the town of Charlemont looks as good as new thanks to a three million dollar renovation that took two years to complete.
The tourist attraction and source of local pride dates back to 1950.
That bridge had replaced the covered span dating back to 1840.
Ron Arseneau told 22News he came all the way from Natick to check it out. " I've been coming up here for 12 years now, and it's been fascinating going past the bridge. It was last year that i noticed they were starting to work on it."
Now that the western Massachusetts tourist season is here, quite a few people are expected to visit the popular spot.
