WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It's a scary situation, getting a flat tire while you're
crossing the railroad tracks and then you hear the train coming.
That's just what happened on Front Street in West Springfield
Wednesday night. The driver got a flat on the tracks and couldn't
move, and then heard the train whistle.
The unidentified driver got out of the car and called 9-1-1,
but the engineer saw the car at the crossing and stopped with
plenty of room for safety.
West Springfield Traffic Officer Jim Malaguti told 22News
that everything worked out, and no one was hurt. The situation
caused several cars and trucks that approached the scene to turn
around and fine another way into either Agawam or West Springfield.
The car left the scene on an interstate towing flatbed, and
the big freight train, pulled several tanker cars down the
track.
