PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) - A 29-year-old man was killed Saturday in a head-on collision on Route 20 in Palmer.

Police Sgt. Christopher Burns told 22News, the victim's 2000 Toyota Camry collided with a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup in front of CKS Auto Sales at 21 Wilbraham Street, about one mile from Massachusetts Turnpike exit 8.

Sgt. Burns named the driver of the pick up as Jason K. Wentworth, a 20-year-old from the Eastern Hampden County town of Wales.

Police say the collision occurred when the pickup, operated by Wentworth, made a left turn in front of the Camry. After colliding head-on with the truck the Camry left the roadway and struck 4 vehicles parked in the lot of CKS Auto Sales.

The operator of the Camry was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Palmer Fire personnel using the jaws of life. The victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where he later died from his injuries.

Three other passengers in the pickup, along with Wentworth, were transported to Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer. They were all treated and released.

Police say alcohol may have been a factor in this accident. The incident is still under investigation.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
