NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. (WWLP) - State Police say a Blandford man was driving a tractor trailer
that struck and killed a pedestrian in Northborough Wednesday
night.
According to a news release from State Police, troopers
responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a tractor trailer on
Route 290 eastbound near Green Street overpass around 7:30 p.m.
Forty-nine year-old Albert Bairos of Shrewsbury suffered
serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
State Police say 66 year-old Philip Bruno of Blandford was
driving the tractor trailer at the time of the accident.
Bruno contacted 22News and is disputing accounts of the fatal
accident.
He said the victim appeared to have committed suicide by
jumping under the truck just as it passed by.
Bruno told 22News he's been been driving a truck 45 years,
and he's never had any driving citations.
