A breakthrough in auto technology was unveiled in West Springfield.
West Springfield-based Scuderi Group unveiled the Scuderi engine prototype at the Big E Fairgrounds on Monday.
The president of the Scuderi Group, Sal Scuderi, said the prototype has been a long, difficult project that's been more than seven years in the making.
It's a revolutionary internal combustion engine that burns less fuel than conventional engines, as well as being smaller and more powerful.
Scuderi also said the engine produces fewer toxic emissions.
Congressman John Olver attended the event, as well as some members of the Western Massachusetts Legislative Delegation.
