SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The longtime director of Springfield’s Open Pantry is
leaving the food program. Kevin Noonan, who has served as executive
director of Open Pantry Community Services, will be leaving his
post on July 31st.
“Kevin will be sorely missed,” said Lisa Randall,
President of the Open Pantry Advisory Board, “He’s been
a great leader, one who has inspired us all with his commitment to
people who are disadvantaged and disenfranchised members in our
community.”
James Cuddy of the South Middlesex Opportunity Council, which
oversees the Open Pantry’s management, says that despite
Noonan’s departure, people should be able to expect the same
level of services from the Open Pantry.
“There will be no disruption in the delivery of all
Open Pantry services,” he said.
The Open Pantry operates an emergency food pantry at 721
State Street in Springfield, as well as the Loaves and Fishes
Kitchen at Christ Church Cathedral, South Church, and the Shiloh
Seventh Day Adventist Church.
It also provides holiday meals at the High School of
Commerce and operates a social services program, a teen living
program for mothers, and two homes for women in recovery.
Noonan has been the director of the Open Pantry since 1989.
A farewell reception is planned in his honor at the end of the
month.
