SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Plans are moving full speed ahead for Springfield's new animal
shelter.
The
Dakin Pioneer
Valley Humane Society held an informational session Wednesday
night to tell the community more about the shelter.
Dakin purchased the former MSPCA building in Springfield, and
will be replacing the MSPCA facility that was forced to close last
month because of a loss in funds.
Leslie Harris, the Executive Director of the
Dakin Pioneer
Valley Humane Society, told 22News the Springfield community
has welcomed them with open arms. "We're very excited because we
are closing in on the august first date, our plan is rolling right
along and we're here in Springfield to talk to the community and
volunteers about how they can help."
The Springfield shelter will also offer a high volume,
spay/neuter clinic. The shelter is expected to open on August
1st.
