SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Thousands of post offices around the country might soon close.
Faced with mail volume declines and financial struggles, the United State Postal Service may have to close over 3,000 offices and retail outlets according to MSN.
Each branch location will be reviewed for closure or consolidation over the next three months.
One customer told 22NEWS he can understand the decline in revenue, as he does much of his business electronically.
Robert Jones of Springfield said, "At first I had reservations, it's not the way to go but now I can put a stamp on it or go to the post office; but now, there it is."
Juliet Hansen of Southwick remarked, "We still send the same amount of Christmas cards. My husband and I love the post office. We love to receive mail and send mail."
In March, the Postmaster General asked Congress to reduce the mail week to save $3 billion.
Location closures could have the same effect.
