SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The streets of Springfield were filled with music, culture, and dance as the Puerto Rican day parade kicked-off on Sunday.
The 15th Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade was filled with energy and life as people celebrated their cultural pride.
The parade showcased a variety of native musical rhythms, dances, and colorful ensembles.
The event was organized by the Puerto Rican Cultural Center
People told 22News its an opportunity to highlight Springfield's thriving Latino community.
"It's a good thing to see people come down, having fun with our culture getting together," said Emily Figuera of Springfield.
"It's the only time we all come together to enjoy our community all together and united," said Eddy Perez, also of Springfield.
The parade departed from Springfield Technical Community College and continued down State Street.
It concluded at the North Gate Plaza on Congress Street.
