CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Cash for Clunkers has been a very successful program to get drivers to trade in their gas guzzlers for a more fuel efficient vehicle, but scrap yards are not all thrilled with the incentive to buy a new car.

Part of the deal when the older car gets brought to a scrap yard is they cannot use the engines, but instead must destroy them.

Drivers who are just trying to maintain their vehicles and don't have the money for a new car also say this program will only hurt them, because there will be less engine inventory to choose from.

The program has certainly stimulated the American car industry that has been hurting for months.
