BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) - The memory of a young cancer victim from Belchertown inspired
other children to raise money for cancer research.
They raise that money every year by selling lemonade on the
Belchertown green.
Saturday’s was the 5th annual Alex's lemonade event, in
honor of Alexandra Scott who lost her fight with pediatric cancer.
Passersby told 22News, they admire what these children are
doing. “I think it's wonderful, I think it shows our kids
that we can do something for the people in town and it teaches
themat a young age they have community involvement,” said
Susan Darmochwat of Belchertown.
“We are trying to exceed our goal from last year of 5
thousand six hundred dollars and it looks with all the help from
the town coming out that will help our goal this year,” said
event organizer Nicole Bennis.
This fundraiser's the brain child of Belchertown's Jitterbugs
early childhood program.
This is the first time they've sold their lemonade on the
town green, and by the look of it their new site has paid off.
