CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Some severe storms rolled through Western Massachusetts on Tuesday night.

The 22News Springfield skycam captured bolts of spider lightning slicing through the night sky.

The dramatic lightning display was captured at around 10:00pm.

22News also received Greenfield hail photos from Tuesday's severe weather. The photos were taken by Tina and Joe Durham of Silver Street. They told 22News that their friends which lived just 5 minutes down the road, got no hail at all.

Tuesday nights wild weather prompted the National Weather Service National to issue severe thunderstorm warnings for multiple counties in Western Massachusetts. The storms were capable of producing penny size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60mph.

Some locations in the warning included Belchertown, Warren, Ware, Pelham, New Braintree, Shutesbury, Petersham, New Salem, Hardwick and Barre.

During the event of severe weather the National Weather Service says to exercise safety. Go Indoors and stay away from windows and to avoid flooded roadways.
