SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - In Springfield, some men are using their skills with a skillet
to win admiration from young people who need solid role models.
Some of these men are school teachers and others are involved
in social service. Yet, when in a kitchen they're known as the
brothers who cook.
22News spoke with Tahon Ross, an english teacher at JFK
Middle School who said, "There's been a rash of violence lately.
And especially men of color pulling the trigger as well as
receiving the bullet, so it helped saturate the youth with positive
images."
This 11th annual Brothers who cook event also helped raise
money for the Springfield Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta
sorority and the American Heart Association.
