SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - An 18-year-old woman is dead, becoming the third Springfield murder victim in just four days.

Springfield Police Sargent John Delaney confirmed to 22News that the 18-year old shooting victim was taken off life support and died at around 5pm Sunday at Baystate Medical Center.

The victim was shot multiple times, including once in the head, through the window of a multi-family home in Springfield's. The shooting happened on Wilmont Street in Springfield just after 1:30am Sunday.

The suspect, 26-year old Daniel Horne, who lives just two doors away, was arrested and faces several charges including armed assault with intent to murder.

According to Springfield Police Lt. Tom Kennedy a neighborhood fight over a television set, set off a string of events.

Springfield Fire Department Spokesperson Dennis Ledger told 22News someone threw a Molotov firebomb at Horne's house, just hours after the shooting. Several officers were inside at the time, collecting evidence.

Sgt. Delaney told 22News it was in retaliation to the shooting. Another police sergeant was able to put out the fire before it caused any major damage.

No one has been arrested for the firebombing incident.
