SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It's a warning parents can't afford to miss this Halloween. Parents need to be concerned about more than just ghouls and goblins.
There are more than 600 sex offenders living in Springfield right now. It's important to know whose door you're knocking on.
Victor Valentin can't wait to take his children out for trick or treating Saturday. But he says he doesn't worry about who's answering the door.
Law enforcement encourages parents to check out if there are sex offenders on your candy route.

There's no law permitting sex offenders from participating in Halloween, so it's up to the parents to keep a close eye on their youngsters.
If the candy wrappers look like they have been tampered police say either bring it to them or throw it in the trash.
