AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - Those receiving Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will be receiving a one time payment later this month as part of the American Recovery And Reinvestment Act.
People in those programs will receive those automatically, they don’t have to apply for them. They will be mailed separately from their monthly payment.
If a husband and wife each receive Social Security benefits , they’ll each receive one of the $250 payments. Those payments go out in late May.
Retirees at the Agawam Senior Center told 22News those $250 payments may not be a lot but it will help with the bills.
The Social Security Administration wants people not to contact them about their payment, unless they don't receive it by June 4th.
