SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A 48-year-old convenience store clerk is in critical condition
after he was shot in the chest Friday night.
Springfield Police Captain Mark Anthony told 22News the
suspect, described as a black male, entered the City Mini Mart at
150 Belmont Avenue around 9 p.m.
He then shot the clerk in the chest, took an undisclosed
amount of money from the register and ran.
Neighbors in an above apartment heard gun shots and called
911.
The victim is being treated at Baystate Medical Center for
severe injuries.
The victim's co-worker told 22News the security cameras were
in the middle of being updated when the armed robbery happened.
Police are still searching for the gunman.
