CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Chicopee high school students raised money to help Lorraine's Kitchen and food pantry move from its longtime downtown location to a much larger building in the cities Willimansett neighborhood.

Lorraine Houle opened the soup kitchen 29 years ago and she has made service to the needy her life's work. She and her staff provide groceries for four hundred families each week, in addition to serving meals each evening to the homeless.

Lorraine's Kitchen has outgrown the building where they've helped people since 1989. The move to Willimansett will cost three hundred thousand dollars. Lorraine told 22News that nothing else brings her the joy of helping families and having them show their appreciation with a heartfelt, "Thanks Miss Lorraine."
