Many people believe that sitting behind a computer screen and surfing the web can directly relate to antisocial behavior, but, a new study suggests the opposite.
The Pew Internet and American Life Project sponsored a telephone survey of more than 2,500 adults.
They found that people's use of mobile phones and the internet is associated with larger and more diverse discussion networks.
22News talked to one Blandford resident who still thinks that too much internet activity has its drawbacks.
"You can get a little addicted to it and not go outside your house and talk to people real life," said Lisa Hansen.
The survey also shows that social networking sites like Facebook
and MySpace are associated with more diverse social networks.
