Some people are taking their lives in their hands leaping into local rivers to cool off.
Although swimming is prohibited near Indian Leap on the Chicopee River, some people still dive into the risky waters.
Not only are the river currents moving faster due to all the recent rains, but also some areas are too shallow for safe diving. "They don't think that it's that low but when they jump in they don't realize the rocks that are under and they hitting the rocks and they're under the water and getting really injured," said Mike Didonato of Agawam.
In the past couple of years, there have been a number of instances of people losing their lives swimming and diving in these treacherous waters.
