BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) - The American Cancer societies rely for life walks here in Western Massachusetts completes its season this weekend for the 9th Annual Relay for Life of Quaboag valley relay in Belchertown. .

More than six hundred people, many of them cancer survivors raised more than 114 thousand dollars.

Survivors of all ages came to the walk.

"Sometimes it feels like I'm not different,” said Jacob Sammataro, 13 year old kidney cancer survivor. “But sometimes my mom will kind of embarrass me. But I'm all right with it."

"I had uterine Cancer, which they caught very early,” said Sheila Boubreau, cancer survivor, Athol. “So I had a real good prognosis, and here I am seven years later."

"Just one day at a time,” said Jacqueline Cooley, fighting cancer, Springfield. “Thank god. Praying, Hoping."

22News sponsors these inspiring events. 22News news reporter Sy Becker showed his support for this good work by the Massachusetts chapter of the American Cancer Society. Sy served as master of ceremonies for this 9th annual event.

The Relay for Life walk ended at 11:30 Saturday morning.
