AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - A Feeding Hills teenager claims he was handed one hundred dollars in counterfeit 20 dollar bills by a bank teller Saturday.
17-year-old Robert McGeoghan told 22News, he cashed the 100 dollar check he found in his birthday card at a local bank. When he noticed something wasn't right when he touched the bills. "It felt like computer paper, very smooth, I had a ten dollar bill and I felt that it just wasn't right, felt different," said McGeoghan.
Robert's mother, Joann McGeoghan told 22News, she filed a report with the Agawam police after noticing that each of the 20 bills had the same serial number. "That's what I said to the police, thank god I figured it out, before he went out. The last thing I would want is my son to be charged with distributing counterfeit money."
Mrs. McGeoghan told 22News, she turned the five 20 dollar bills over to Agawam police after filing her report.
22News will continue to follow this story. We'll bring further information as it becomes available.
