Telemedicine is changing the outcome for many patients who have had a stroke.

At Baystate Medical Center, telemedicine technology has been in use for four years.

Dr. Carmel Armon is the Chief of Neurology and says it brings doctors bedside within minutes.

During a mock demonstration with a doctor at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, Dr. Armon was able to consult with the doctor, ask a patient with stroke symptoms questions, and put her through a series of exercises.

The assessment helps doctors determine whether medication is needed.

Recently, the technology helped doctors at Mary Lane save a woman from permanent disability.
