WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Cash for Clunkers program is nearing the end. For some
dealers that's a blessing, others would be happy to see it go on
forever.
At Bertera Chrysler Jeep in West Springfield they have
extended their business hours between now and the program
termination Monday to accommodate customers.
Bertera's sales department, which usually closes at 5, will
stay open until midnight Saturday.
General Manager Gabriel Faria says the program has been
wildly successful, bringing the company a much needed business
boost.
"We today have sold 22 cars, and we're pushing somewhere
between 100 and 120 for the weekend. It brought a lot of traffic,
and a lot of confidence into the market and I fully support the
program at this point," said Faria.
As for other local dealers, Balise tells 22News it will hold
normal hours though Monday.
Meanwhile, Curry Honda in Chicopee has opted to end its Cash
for Clunkers program early thanks to the paperwork quagmire, and
delayed reimbursement from the government.
