SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - New jobless figures show the unemployment rate is growing, but at a slower pace.

The unemployment rate has surpassed 10 percent for the first time since 1983.

Although experts say the recession has technically ended, 16 million Americans are still out of a job, but the pace of job loss has slowed down.

Konrad Rogowski, Career Services Manager, of Future Works says people are still looking for help to find a job.

“Unemployment is slowing down what that still means for us in western mass is we're still seeing great numbers of people coming into the centers

This marks the 22nd straight month the economy has lost jobs.
