WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WWLP) - It was a hero's homecoming for 100 men and women of the Second World War generation.
On a flight back from the Nation's Capital, they had a chance to reflect on their service and sacrifice.
They were welcomed back into Bradley International Airport on Saturday after spending the day in Washington for the American Warrior sponsored trip to D.C. for Veterans from western Massachusetts and Connecticut.
While in D.C., the group toured several monuments on the National Mall to visit the memorial built in their honor.
"This is paradise. It cant be better in heaven then what we have here. To think they would go out of their way to do this. This was the best day of my life.," remarked Charles "Skuffy" Muniec, a U.S. Navy Veteran from Palmer.
The American Warrior program will have sent over 1,000 World War Two Vets to Washington by the end of the year.
