Vigil to remember young bullying victim

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield College hosts a vigil on Friday in memory of young suicide victim, Carl Walker Hoover.

The vigil recognizes the "national day of silence", a day focused on bullying and harassment in schools.

The vigil will be held from 1:00 - 6:00pm in the college "Quad."

Sirdeaner Walker told 22News, participants will release balloons in memory of her son, who committed suicide after being bullied at school.

Walker says drawing attention to this problem is a way to honor her son, who would have turned 12-years-old tomorrow.
