Chicopee Mayor announces no layoffs

Balanced budget passed, no added fees

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Mayor Michael Bissonnette proudly announced on Wednesday there will be no layoffs in Chicopee and no added fees for residents.

Mayor Bissonnette said he has passed a balanced budget.

The Mayor was able to shave off $4 million from last year's budget, bringing the 2010 budget  to $147 million.

Chicopee sustained a $6 million cut in local aid.

They received $7 million dollars in federal stimulus money to go to education. They will use $3 million from the rainy fund.
