GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Greenfield residents against the proposed wood burning biomass power plant took to the streets on Saturday to spread the word.
Residents held signs, spoke to drivers ands even sang songs to express their opposition.
Citizens of Greenfield are worried about pollution, deforestation, and truck traffic from the proposed plant and say they don't want it approved by Greenfield's Zoning Board of Appeals.
"We're going to cut down trees, put them in an incinerator, and push all that carbon dioxide up the chimney and into the atmosphere," said Greenfield resident Donna Farishta.
"Energy conservation, we should look into wind power," said Francis Doughty, another resident.
Matt Wolfe is the developer for Greenfield's proposed plant and he told 22News, the plant won't generate the problems many residents fear.
On 22News at 11:00 we will hear Wolfe's side of the story.
