WOBURN, Mass. (AP) - A Chelmsford man accused of stabbing his estranged wife to death in front of their 3-year-old son is going on trial on murder charges.

Opening statements in Jeffrey McGee's trial are scheduled for Monday in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn.

Prosecutors say McGee killed 31-year-old Christine McGee in his apartment on Nov. 20, 2007, by puncturing her jugular vein.

Christine McGee's body was found when police went to check on her after McGee and his son were involved in a car crash in Methuen.

McGee has pleaded not guilty.
