2nd rape reported near Harvard campus

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - Harvard University police are investigating a second rape reported in the campus area since last week.

In a statement Friday, campus police said a woman reported to police in nearby Somerville that she was raped Tuesday night in the area of Oxford and Kirkland streets near the science center. The woman is not affiliated with Harvard. She described her attacker as a thin white man about 5 feet 6 inches tall with spikey dark hair, in his mid-20s.

Campus police said last week another woman reported being raped at about 3 a.m. Aug. 10 as she walked across Harvard Yard. That woman also isn't a Harvard student or employee. Her attacker was described as being a "very tanned" man in his mid-20s with dark hair and a medium build.
