STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WWLP) - A variety of different drugs were seized by State Police Tuesday night, on the same stretch of Interstate 84 where another drug bust was made earlier in the day.
According to a news release sent to 22News by State Police Media Relations, just before 10:00 P.M., a sergeant pulled over Carlos Vargas on I-84 Eastbound in Sturbridge for speeding and a marked lanes violation. The sergeant discovered that Vargas, a 35 year-old New York City resident, had a suspended license, and he was arrested.
Troopers searched Vargas’ car, and allegedly found 250 grams of heroin, 200 grams of cocaine, a pound of marijuana, and 79 Percocet pills. State Police estimate the street value of the seized drugs to be around $41,300.
Vargas will be arraigned in Dudley District Court Wednesday on charges including trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in heroin, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Vargas’ arrest came less than 24 hours after State Police pulled over a livery van on I-84 Eastbound in Sturbridge, and discovered a kilo of cocaine and more than $28,000 in cash inside.
