MIDDLETON, MA (WWLP) - A man with only one leg stopped a would–be robber, in the eastern part of the state.

Steve Cornell was using an ATM, at a Middleton store last night, when he saw a man inside pointing a gun at the stores manager.

When the gunman ran out the door, Cornell tripped him, giving the manager enough time to tackle the man.

What makes Cornell’s actions even more impressive is that he has an artificial leg.

Eddie Andreade, the store manager said, "Like I said, many people see something like this, a little dangerous, they just turn around, they close their eyes. They don't want to see that."

"What anybody would do. Protect people in the neighborhood," said Steve Cornell, who stopped the robber.

The suspect, Eric Human, was arraigned on a charge of armed robbery and is being held without bail.
