BOSTON (AP) - Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful Martha Coakley is unveiling a
plan she says will help bolster security at national and community
levels.
Coakley said on Wednesday that her legislative priorities
include toughening port and border security, making nuclear
facilities less vulnerable to attack and protecting the nation's
armed forces.
She said law enforcement officers need better tools to
battle economic crimes, cyber crimes and human trafficking.
Coakley also announced the backing of several police unions.
U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano (cap-yoo-AH'-noh), Boston Celtics
co-owner Stephen Pagliuca (pah-lee-OOH'-cah) and City Year
co-founder Alan Khazei (KAY'-zee) are also running for the
Democratic nomination.
Republicans state Sen. Scott Brown and Jack E. Robinson are
also running.
