Brown-Warren race tied, new poll says

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The Massachusetts senate race between incumbent Republican Senator Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren is as close as it could possibly be, a new poll shows.

A Rasmussen Reports survey of likely voters released Tuesday shows both candidates receive 48% of the vote, with 1% of voters preferring some other candidate, and 3% of voters still undecided.

The telephone survey was conducted Monday night, less than a week after an often heated Boston-area television debate between the two candidates. Both sides have also recently begun releasing their first negative television ads.

The even polling in the Rasmussen survey fits in with recent polling showing both candidates up by small margins. Recent polls by Western New England University, Public Policy Polling, and WBUR Radio showed 2-6% leads for Warren, while a recent UMass Lowell/Boston Herald Poll showed Brown with a 6% lead.
