BOSTON (AP) - A new storm is bringing wet, heavy snow and gusty winds to Massachusetts, including coastal flooding in communities hit during February's blizzard.
A coastal flood warning is in effect Thursday morning to Friday morning for east-facing shores. The National Weather Service predicts up to a 3-foot surge at high tide in some areas. Scituate and Sandwich Harbor are most vulnerable, especially Friday. Scituate officials cancelled Thursday school, and urged evacuations of vulnerable shorelines.
A winter storm warning for 4 to 8 inches of snow was issued for central Massachusetts beginning 7 a.m. Thursday.
Lower snow totals of 3 to 5 inches are expected in eastern Massachusetts, including Boston, and slightly higher amounts in western Massachusetts.
A high wind warning through Thursday night for Cape Cod and nearby islands forecasts 30 to 40 mph winds, gusting to 60 mph.
