Final Brown/Warren debate canceled

Organizers: Candidates could not agree on new date

BOSTON (AP) -

A planned fourth and final debate in Massachusetts' contentious U.S. Senate race will not be rescheduled.

The debate's organizers said the debate, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was postponed because of the storm, has been canceled because the candidates could not agree on a new date after being offered multiple options.

Democratic Senate hopeful Elizabeth Warren had agreed to participate in a debate on Thursday, but Republican incumbent Scott Brown had refused to say whether he would take part.

On Monday, however, Brown had said the debate would "certainly" happen and on Friday he even offered to give Warren a lift to the debate in his truck.

Late Tuesday, however, a Brown spokesman said the campaign schedule could not accommodate the fourth debate pointing to what he called a long-planned bus tour.
