SHERBURNE, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police are investigating the stabbing of a Massachusetts man at a New Year's Day party.

Police say they were called to a large party in Sherburne near the Killington ski resort at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, where they found a man lying in a snow bank covered in blood.

Officers determined that the man had not been stabbed and that the blood was not his, but later learned that another man identified as 31-year-old Dennis Walsh of Woburn, Mass., had been taken by friends to Rutland Regional Medical Center with numerous stab wounds. Walsh was treated and released.

Police say they have interviewed numerous people who were at the party, but say they have been uncooperative and have claimed they didn't witness any fight.
