LOWELL, Mass. (AP) - Police say a man tried to punch Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo inside a Lowell club over the weekend.

Authorities say 31-year-old Eric Valarezo of Haverhill was arrested on disorderly conduct charges just before 2 a.m. Saturday after allegedly trying to punch Rondo at Brian's Ivy Hall. No one was hurt.

Club manager Kevin Hayhurst says Rondo and several other people, including body guards and several fellow NBA players were attempting to leave the club just before closing at the time of the incident.

The players were there for a promotional event.

Valarezo says he was the victim. He says Rondo pushed him first and he reacted in self-defense. He says he had no idea who Rondo was. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court.
