BOURNE, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts State Police trooper on leave for a knee injury has been charged with drunken driving.

Trooper Robert Gilmore was arrested at about 2 p.m. Monday in Bourne after town police received reports of an erratic driver and a woman called to say someone was trying to run her off the road.

The 38-year-old Gilmore was arrested by fellow state troopers, because the incident started outside of Bourne.

He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Falmouth District Court.

A state police spokesman tells the Cape Cod Times that Gilmore, assigned to the Middleborough barracks, started injured reserved leave Monday, five days after he reported suffering a knee injury.
