CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts district attorney says a nanny has been charged with assault and battery in the death of her 1-year-old charge.

Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone says 34-year-old Quincy resident Aisling McCarthy Brady was arrested Monday.

Authorities say the baby girl became unresponsive on Jan. 14 and was taken to Children's Hospital in Boston .

Once there, doctors determined she was suffering from hemorrhaging and swelling of the brain. They also say she had bone fractures that were healing.

The baby was declared brain dead Jan. 16.

Authorities say the nanny was caring for the baby the day she was hospitalized and was the only one with her when the injuries occurred.

Leone says more charges may be coming.

Brady is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday. Her phone number is unlisted.
